Family law attorneys Paul Roberts and Karen Peabody have joined Price, Postel & Parma (PP&P) law firm.
The firm’s new family law practice includes handling complex liquidation procedures for high net worth assets and focuses on guiding clients in key life events such as marriage contracts, post-verdict disputes, and setting up and amending maintenance and custody decisions for spouses and children .
The expansion of family law alongside estate planning and the firm’s tax practices enables PP&P to provide comprehensive representation regardless of the developments in their clients’ lives.
In addition to the highly technical problems that can arise, family law matters are often further complicated because of the potential for highly controversial litigation.
“Understanding the extent of a lawyer’s responsibility in family law is critical,” said Roberts. “It is family law and the family is being redefined as a result of this process. As a professional, I see this as an opportunity to preserve and protect, but also to redefine it.
“What I do in my work can have an impact on future generations. This truism has to be remembered every day, ”he said. “My approach is based on getting to know my clients’ needs, giving them an idea of what to expect from the start of a family law matter, keeping clients informed throughout the process, and achieving their goals as efficiently as possible.”
Roberts has been based in Santa Barbara since 1977 and served as CEO of law firms in Santa Barbara prior to joining Price, Postel & Parma.
He has an established practice in PP&P that includes handling complex, high-net-worth matrimonial liquidation proceedings that consist of litigation in all matters including real estate, domestic and overseas business matters that often involve executives of publicly listed companies as well as spouses and child support are involved.
Roberts is a founding member and past chairman of the Santa Barbara Chamber Orchestra. He has also served on the board of directors of the Santa Barbara Lawyer Referral Service, the Santa Barbara Bar Association, and other nonprofits in the Santa Barbara area.
Peabody is a litigator and appointment attorney and has served in Santa Barbara since 1997. She advises and represents clients in all phases of family law proceedings.
Peabody strives to provide personalized legal services to its clients in a cost effective manner and to work creatively and efficiently to resolve disputes.
Prior to joining PP&P, Peabody had a one-on-one practice, Peabody Boris Law, which focused on estate and trust disputes before moving on to family law. From 1997 to 2013 she worked for the former law firm Nye, Peabody, Stirling, Hale & Miller, LLP.
