Local attorney John Bonn will become Judge John Bonn at the end of the year.
Friday’s attorney general Doug Downey announced five new judges in the Ontario Court of Justice effective December 31.
Bonn has practiced criminal law, personal injury and civil law and was appointed deputy judge at the Supreme Court last year.
He was appointed to the Nova Scotia Bar in 2001 and the Ontario Bar in 2004. Most recently he worked for his family’s law firm Bonn Law.
He is a member of the Ontario Trial Lawyers’ Association and the Hastings County Law Association and has volunteered with the Ontario Justice
Education network in Belleville.
After becoming a judge, Bonn will serve in Belleville.
