OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – US prosecutors have notified all Nebraskans involved in riots in the country’s Capitol and promised to pursue them “to the fullest extent of the law.”
Joe Kelly, US attorney general for the district of Nebraska, described the violent actions on Wednesday in Washington, DC, as an “intolerable attack on a fundamental institution of our democracy” and condemned the unrest together with the acting attorney general Jeffrey Rosen.
In the statement posted on Twitter, Kelly said that anyone who has traveled to DC from Nebraska to “commit violent crime” will be prosecuted.
“Our attorneys have a duty to comply with the Constitution and the law, and we will,” Kelly said in the statement.
Kelly stated that he and his colleagues are standing by the pledge: If you have traveled to DC from Nebraska to commit violent crime, @USAO_NE will prosecute you to the fullest extent of the law. Our lawyers are required to comply with the Constitution and the law, and we will do so. 2/2
