U of A Grad Alexander Named Arkansas Excellent Professional Bono Legal professional of the Yr

Amie (Wilcox) Alexander graduated from Bumpers College in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in agricultural education, communications and technology.

Amie Alexander, a U of A alumna, was named one of the Outstanding Pro Bono Attorneys of the Year by Legal Aid of Arkansas.

Alexander, then Wilcox, received her bachelor’s degree in agricultural education, communication and technology from Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences in 2015.

She was recognized after donating more than 45 pro bono hours to low-income communities that otherwise would not have had access to legal services.

Alexander joined Friday, Eldredge & Clark’s Little Rock law firm after graduating from the University of Arkansas, Little Rock, with a law degree.

Her main focus is in the healthcare sector, where she works primarily on various corporate and compliance matters. She designs and reviews guidelines to ensure compliance with federal health regulations such as HIPAA, Stark I and Stark II, anti-kickback, and Medicare / Medicaid reimbursement. Her customers include hospitals, medical groups and other medical service providers.

Before joining the firm, Alexander gained a professional background and worked with various organizations such as the National Agricultural Law Center, the Association of Arkansas Counties, and the United States Department of Agriculture, Foreign Agricultural Service.

The awards were announced on Law Day, May 1st.
