Taxpayers footing invoice for Cuomo’s $2.5M attorneys contract

Taxpayers will be billed for a $ 2.5 million contract for lawyers representing Governor Andrew Cuomo’s office in an ongoing federal investigation into his government’s handling of COVID-19 data in nursing homes.

The Justice Department and the Attorney General’s Office have opened investigations into the allegations, while a separate investigation by a Judicial Committee of the State Assembly is also examining whether there are grounds for impeaching Cuomo.

When asked whether he was using campaign or personal funds to pay lawyers, Cuomo said, “Not at the moment.”

It is not known how much total taxpayers will pay for the legal costs arising from the widespread allegations against Cuomo.
