Native Lawyer Reacts to D.C. Riots | WUTR/WFXV

UTICA, NY (WUTR-TV) – What started as a political rally ended with a riot on Capitol Hill. Thousands of supporters left a rally with President Trump on Wednesday, then physically broke into the Captiol building and assaulted police officers. After breaking into the building and attacking police officers. At least 5 people have died, including a US veteran shot by law enforcement and a Capitol Police officer. Oneka Roach-Campbell, an immigration attorney in Utica, believes the outcome would have been different if the group hadn’t been Trump supporters.

“If it was a black thing in life in March or just a group of black people who did it. Black or born people who did that, we saw rubber bullets or real bullets come out. We would have seen the tear gas, all the things we saw that happened during the march of the black thing about life. “- Oneka Roach-Campbell, Esq., LLM Immigration Attorney

Some Washington rioters were armed with guns and other weapons, including at least one pipe bomb. From a legal standpoint, Roach-Campbell says the group broke several laws and should be prosecuted.

“You passed 4 barriers and broke windows. This happened a few days ago and why don’t we have any warrants? Everyone’s face is on social media. We know how it was inside. We know who staged the coo and tried to coo. Why weren’t federal orders issued? “- Oneka Roach-Campbell, Esq., LLM Immigration Attorney

Roach-Campbell believes that race and personal beliefs directly contributed to the way the Washington riots were handled. She also says she will never tolerate violence, but wishes all Americans were treated equally.

“We don’t want you to shoot her the way you shoot us, do we? We want you not to shoot us the way you didn’t shoot her. It just shows us that we live in two different Americas. “- Oneka Roach-Campbell, Esq., LLM Immigration Attorney
