FARGO, ND (Valley News Live) – Cass County prosecutors are not filing charges against North Dakota State University for botched cow killing.
The slaughter was viewed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture as a violation of slaughter standards.
According to an Inforum article, an April 13th letter from the prosecutor revealed that prosecutors had refused to bring charges against the NDSU meat laboratory and the staff involved in the February 22nd incident.
In that letter, the prosecutors stated that they could not, without reasonable doubt, demonstrate that the killing of the animal took place “outside of normal and customary slaughtering practice”.
