“I am delighted that Marie is joining our team. External affairs – including communication, crime prevention and prevention, and victim services – are our interface with the citizens of Baltimore City. Marie brings with her extensive city, state and federal experience, is a good lawyer, manager and strategist with pronounced political acumen. I look forward to seeing where she takes our office and how she can support not only the needs of the people in her departments but also those of our wider community, ”said District Attorney Marilyn Mosby.

Thompson will serve as one of the agency’s first contacts for the community, the press, officials and foundations. She will also support the prosecutor’s reform plans for the criminal justice system and oversee a team of around 40 people.

“Joining the Baltimore City SAO team is a pretty closed experience, considering my first legal experience as an intern with a prosecutor’s office. Every day here I see our prosecutors and staff working tirelessly for the citizens of Baltimore; and I can say without a doubt that our success is based on cooperation with other city agencies. Beyond my regular duties, I hope to help others look beyond sensational headlines – to shed light on the myriad of stories of unwavering hearts that have dedicated themselves to the daily work of supporting victims, calming down a life that has been troubled by crime, and that is often doing unseen but essential “partnership work” to lead young people to better life outcomes, “said Stephenson.
