PHOENIX (AP) – Maricopa prosecutor Allister Adel was discharged from hospital nearly two months after a brain injury on election day.
Maricopa County prosecutors said in a statement Thursday that Adel was back home but had signed her oath of office.
Adel hit his head after falling at her home on November 3rd. The Metro Phoenix attorney general underwent emergency surgery to remove a blood clot from bleeding in her brain. She was taken to the Barrow Neurological Institute two days later.
In the statement, her staff said she continues to focus on her recovery but looks forward to seeing colleagues in the New Year.
Adel, a Republican, was appointed in 2019 to fill a position as district attorney. In the elections, she defeated the Democratic challenger Julie Gunnigle.
